Subject: Computer Go European Championship
During the European Go Congress in Prague, a Computer Go Tournament was
held. Six Programs took part in it. The Winner was Progo by Robert Rehm
with 5 straight wins, followed by 3 programs with 3 wins each: Modgo by
Walter and Alfred Knoepfle, TurboGo by Arnoud Rutgers v.d.Loeff and
Gogelaar by Peter Dullemeijer. Modgo was a bit unlucky to lose two games,
it 'forgot' to answer atari several times and lost by a small margin to
Progo.
According to the tournament bulletin, Progo contains some new algorithms
developed by Rob Sprey.
Mark Boon and Janusz Kraszek (and me..) were present at the congress, but
did not participate in the computer event.
